On June 4, China's Cultural Industry Research Center released a report which highlighted 20 of the highest-grossing concerts of 2014. Lee Min Ho and EXO were the only Korean acts included on the list, which primarily contained artists from mainland China and Chinese-speaking countries.
In 2014, Lee performed in Guangzhou and Shanghai, as part of his RE:MINHO tour. The concerts were attended by 7,000 and 10,000 fans, respectively. He is participation in the tour was in support of his album, "Song for You." He has denied any interest in a singing career. The 27-year-old actor released "Song for You," in honor of his fans. His concerts combined elements of musical performance with audience engagement.
EXO toured throughout China in support of their extended play release, "Overdose." In 2014, EXO-M engaged in heavy promotional activities throughout the region, particularly during the period following the Sewol Ferry tragedy. The group continues to maintain popularity in mainland China, even after the departure of Wu Yi Fan (Kris) and Luhan.
The list published by the Cultural Industry Research Center also included top artists in Chinese music. Singaporean singer-songwriter JJ Lin, who collaborated with CNBLUE's Jung Yong Hwa for "Checkmate," was highlighted for his Timeline World Tour. Also topping the list was Hong Kong pop vocalist, G.E.M, who was noted for the success of her X.X.X tour.
