“The King: Eternal Monarch” Responds To Reports Of One-Sided Removal Of A Cast Member

The staff of SBS’s “The King: Eternal Monarch” has responded to reports of the unilateral removal of a cast member.

On March 30, a source from the drama released an official statement following an article by Market News which reported that “The King: Eternal Monarch” made a one-sided decision to remove an actor without discussion or notice.

The full statement is below:

The article about “The King: Eternal Monarch” abuse of power regarding casting is not true.

After checking the facts with the casting director team, we learned that the actor mentioned in the “casting power abuse” reports was cast in October 2019 as a detective. But after the script was changed, the character’s age became older and the final casting fell through.

However, there was a delay during the casting director’s process of communicating the casting news and it resulted in a misunderstanding with the actor’s agency. The casting director later apologized and the director personally called to explain the situation as to why the casting fell through. The actor and the actor’s agency understood the situation and it was peacefully resolved.
We greatly regret the reports of the “casting abuse of power” ahead of our premiere. “The King: Eternal Monarch” will continue to try our best in order to make a good project. Thank you.

Penned by hit drama writer Kim Eun Sook, “The King: Eternal Monarch” is a highly anticipated fantasy romance drama starring popular actors such as Lee Min Ho, Kim Go Eun, and Woo Do Hwan.

The series is set to premiere on April 17 at 10 p.m. KST as the follow-up to “Hyena.”

Lee Min Ho Asks Kim Go Eun To Come To His World In “The King: Eternal Monarch” Teaser

SBS’s upcoming drama “The King: Eternal Monarch” has released an intriguing new teaser!

Written by Kim Eun Sook, “The King: Eternal Monarch” is about two parallel universes of a monarchy and a democracy. Lee Min Ho will play Emperor Lee Gon who tries to close the door between the two worlds, while Kim Go Eun will take on the role of detective Jung Tae Eul who works with the emperor to protect people’s lives.

The new teaser begins with Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun meeting in the middle of a brightly illuminated city. He is sitting on a gallant white horse as she gazes up at him from a safe distance. He suddenly charges over and pulls her into a tight embrace, causing her eyes to widen as her mouth opens in shock.

Her voice over asks, “Did you really come from a different world?” The scene switches to Lee Min Ho riding his white horse through a mysterious forest where he vanishes through a lofty arch with his voice over, “The reason I survived, is it here?”

Kim Go Eun then firmly states to Lee Min Ho, “You act like you know me, but I don’t know you,” while he mysteriously comments, “Just like how I’m not here, you weren’t in my world either.” Kim Go Eun does not seem easy to convince as she is someone “who still doesn’t believe the earth is round.”
