Mysteries Waiting To Be Solved By Kim Go Eun And Lee Min Ho In “The King: Eternal Monarch”
The drama tells the story of Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) and detective Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun), who live in parallel universes — one where Korea is a constitutional monarchy and another where it is a democracy — but they work together to try to save lives.
Spoiler
Below are four key points related to the mysterious case surrounding Lee Sang Do.
The corpse inside the trunk. Who is Lee Sang Do?
The mysterious case surrounding Lee Sang Do began the moment Jung Tae Eul captured Kim Bok Man (Heo Jae Ho), the man who established an illegal gambling website. Inside Kim Bok Man’s car trunk, Jung Tae Eul discovered a suspicious corpse, causing the illegal gambling website investigation to transform into a murder investigation. Jung Tae Eul and Kang Shin Jae (Kim Kyung Nam) identified the corpse to be 57-year-old Lee Sang Do who was the owner of a hardware store. As a member of Kim Bok Man’s illegal gambling website, Lee Sang Do lost a building’s worth of money and even borrowed money from multiple people living near the hardware store.
“The King: Eternal Monarch” Producer Issues Apology About Depiction Of Japanese Warships
“The King: Eternal Monarch” has been swept up in another controversy.
The drama features two parallel universes: one with a democracy that is similar to modern-day Korea and one that is an alternative universe in which Korea is an empire ruled by a monarch. Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) and detective Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun) work together to protect the ones they love and close the portal between the two worlds.
Previously, the drama received criticism for appearing to have used images of buildings that are similar to Japanese temples while depicting the fictional Korean Empire. Some viewers also saw similarities between the Imperial Seal for the fictional Korean Empire and the real Imperial Seal of Japan.
Another controversy erupted over episode 6, which contained a naval battle scene between the Korean Empire and Japan. It was pointed out that the Japanese warships with Japanese flags were similar in design to current Korean warships.

Lee Min Ho Is Flawless In Uniform In “The King: Eternal Monarch”
SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama “The King: Eternal Monarch” has released new behind-the-scenes photos of Lee Min Ho!
The drama tells the story of Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) and detective Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun), who live in parallel universes — one where Korea is a constitutional monarchy and another where it is a democracy — but they work together to try to save lives.
Throughout the drama, Lee Min Ho has worn multiple outfits including his black imperial attire and an equestrian uniform. However, his white naval uniform in particular has been attracting the attention of viewers.

Time Seems To Stop As Kim Go Eun And Lee Min Ho Share Sorrowed Looks In “The King: Eternal Monarch”
SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama “The King: Eternal Monarch” has shared new stills of Kim Go Eun and Lee Min Ho!
“The King: Eternal Monarch” tells the story of Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) and detective Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun), who live in parallel universes where Korea is a constitutional monarchy and democracy respectively, but work together to try and save peoples lives.
The new stills show Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul facing each other in the royal living quarters in the universe where Korea is a constitutional monarchy. They are unable to take their eyes off of each other in that moment. While Lee Gon has a determined expression on his face, he has a lonely look in his eyes as he gazes upon Jung Tae Eul, and her eyes are also fixed on him as they fill with tears.
Tension is rising as Lee Gon is not in his usual imperial attire, but his naval uniform. It remains to be seen why the pair are staring at each other so intently, and what has driven Lee Gon to dress up in his naval uniform.
Hwa&Dam Pictures stated, “Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun continue to build upon a love story that spans across parallel universes with their amazing chemistry. Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul have made viewers’ hearts race but this time, they will be bringing a feeling of sorrow. Please anticipate it.”
The upcoming episode of “The King: Eternal Monarch” will air at 10 p.m. KST on May 2.
