Interview with Lee Min Ho

Bounty Hunter is Lee Min Ho first Mandarin movie. He had always insisted on doing at least one Chinese movie for the sake of his fans and also his admiration for the Chinese actors.

At the time of the magazine publication, Lee Min Ho is actually in the midst of road show promoting his movie. He mentioned he had always liked Chinese movies and his idol is Jackie Chan. Hence when he received the script for this movie, he actually like it very much as his character is someone that’s bright and cheerful.

Though his character “Lee San” is supposedly cheerful but is not easy at all during the filming as he needs to be “highly skilled” involving a lot of actions. Lee Min Ho had undergone 2 months of martial arts training just in preparation for this movie.

“Actually as compared to the actions scenes, I think acting against Wallace Chung in all the funny scenes are even more difficult. Previously all my past characters are either very serious or romance. In playing Lee San, I need to be funny and aloof at the same time, totally different from what I used to play, its more challenging than the dangerous actions scenes.” He said.

Lee Min Ho became good friends with Wallace Chung during the course of the filming. Overcoming language barriers with a lot of interaction and professionalism, they became close friends. “ I am even hoping that we can get bromance couple award out of this movie” He laughed.

According to China Box Office (CBO)'s announcement on July 15, 'Bounty Hunters' recorded cumulative sales of 35.6 billion KRW (~$31.3 million USD) in the two weeks after it premiered.

'Bounty Hunters' also stars popular Chinese actors Wallace Chung and Tiffany Tang, and spins the tale of bounty hunters who travel all over Asia for their prize.

The cumulative sales reportedly marks the highest record for a Chinese movie starring a Korean actor.

Lee Min Ho’s Fan Clubs Donate To Charity In Support Of His New Film

LEE MIN HO’S FAN CLUBS DONATED TO A CHARITABLE ORGANISATION TO SUPPORT THE ACTOR’S NEW MOVIE!

Lee Min Ho’s action comedy film, Bounty Hunters, was officially released in China on July 1. The film also landed on the cinemas in Malaysia, starting from July 14.

On July 14, two of the heartthrob’s fan clubs, Asia Minoz and LMHInternational, held a special screening in a cinema in Malaysia for the actor’s new film Bounty Hunters. The screening gathered his fans under one roof to catch the movie together.

The fans also did good deeds in support of the star’s new film. They raised and donated an amount of RM2,000 (USD 509) to the humanitarian, development and advocacy organisation World Vision. The organisation’s representatives were also there to receive the check presented by the fan clubs.

Lee Min-ho's "Bounty Hunters" which was released in China on July 1st, is on a roll.

Directed by Sin Tae-ra, "Bounty Hunters" is a 30 billion won global Asian comedy action movie about a bounty hunter.

The movie is a collaboration between Korea and China and the breaking point has become even before the release of the movie.

Lee Min Ho's Bounty Hunters’ hits big in China

“Bounty Hunters,” an action comedy film that features Korean actor Lee Min-ho as the main protagonist, has raked in about 50 million yuan ($758,000) in China on Friday, when the film was released, according to Starhaus Entertainment, one of several production companies behind the movie.

It opened on 52,000 screens and marked a ticket reserve share of 26.7 percent, ranking No. 1 at the box office.
The movie has garnered more viewers than “So I Married an Anti-fan,” featuring Chanyeol from EXO, a boy band group composed of South Korean and Chinese members. “So I Married an Anti-fan” grossed 23 million yuan when it opened in Chinese theaters Thursday.

The movie is about five bounty hunters, who collaborate to search for a hotel bomber. It was filmed in four Asian countries including South Korea, China, Hong Kong, and Thailand.

Lee plays the lead role of Yi San, who excels in martial arts, while his costar, Tiffany Tang, plays the female lead called Wonder Woman Cat. Star News had reported last year that one of the reasons Lee was selected for the role in “Bounty Hunters” is that he had shown his martial arts skills in previous works, such as “City Hunter” and “Gangnam Blues.”

“Bounty Hunters” was jointly made by several Chinese and Hong Kong production companies and directed by Shin Terra, a Korean director, who is renowned for the movies “My Girlfriend is a Secret Agent” (2009) and “Runway Cop” (2012).

Lee Min Ho’s “Bounty Hunters” Shows Impressive Results At The Chinese Box Office

Hallyu actor Lee Min Ho proved his popularity yet again as his movie “Bounty Hunters” broke box office records on its opening in China.

Star House Entertainment, the production company behind “Bounty Hunters,” released a statement on July 2. “On the first day of the film’s release in China, it grossed 9 billion won ($7.8 million).”

The film was screened 52,000 times on the first day in theaters around the country, a number almost 20 times higher than when it was released in Korea.

“Bounty Hunters” is currently competing in the Chinese market with several Hollywood blockbusters (“Independence Day: Resurgence” and “Now You See Me 2”) and Chinese films (“So I Married An Anti-Fan”).

Lee Min Ho and the rest of the cast toured eight cities in China as part of their promotions for the film. The movie has risen to No. 1 on most-searched lists on sites such as Baidu and Weibo.

“Bounty Hunters” is an action comedy with a budget of 30 billion won and stars both Korean and Chinese actors. It is scheduled to be released in England, Australia, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan after its first opening in China.

Did Lee Min Ho struggle with language barriers for his Chinese movie?

Lee Min Ho shared his struggles with Chinese during the promotional event for his upcoming movie 'Bounty Hunters'.

The actor was asked about his experiences filming the Chinese movie, and Lee Min Ho answered, "At first I was worried about the unfamiliar environment and the language, but I got used to it once filming started. Communicating with the actors wasn't much different as how it is in Korea, so it wasn't particularly difficult."

However, Lee Min Ho expressed frustration on using Chinese, and explained, "I wanted to communicate with my fans, so I tried memorizing several lines, but it was so hard. So now I just use Korean."

Meanwhile, Lee Min Ho's new Chinese movie is set to premier on July 1.

Lee Min Ho Takes Care Of Fans After “Bounty Hunters” Event Is Canceled In China

A “Bounty Hunters” promotional event in China was recently canceled. Lee Minho’s agency said, “When thousands showed up for the ‘Bounty Hunters’ roadshow, local authorities canceled the event for safety reasons.

Lee Minho has been doing these events in various regions of China since November, and his agency explained, “Lee Minho visits to each region have attracted thousands of fans, but on June 25 in Guangzhou, more fans than usual were in attendance because it was the weekend.”

After the cancellation, Lee Min Ho made arrangements for the event to be replaced with a film screening, and the actor personally made an appearance at the theater to surprise fans.

For those that weren’t able to attend the screening because of limited seating, Lee Min Ho went out of his way to greet fans that were waiting for him in front of his hotel, despite protests from his security detail.
